Alexander Zyumbrovskiy - cello

Alexander Zyumbrovskiy born in 1965 in Dnepropetrovsk (Ukraine) into a family of Cellists. Continued musical studies at the Tchaikovsky Conservatoire, Moscow with Professor Tchaikovskaia, a pupil of M. Rostropovich. There, completed training under the guidance of Prof. N. Schachovskaia, earning a Doctorate. From 1991 to 1994 played in the Russian National Symphony Orchestra founded and directed by Michail Pletnev.
After moving to Italy in 1994, won several prizes in International Competitions including The Palma D'oro, Finale Ligure, The Rovere D'oro, Imperia, The Concorso Viotti, Vercelli, The Citta di Pavia and The Citta di Trapani Competitions and The Orford Arts Center Competition in Montreal, Canada.
As Soloist performed many concerts in Italy: Auditorium of Santa Cecilia in Rome, Teatro Coccia di Novara, Sala Verdi di Milano, Conservatorio di Torino etc., in Russia: The Large Hall of The Conservatoire, The Rachmaninoff Hall, The Tchaikovskiy Hall Moscow, and in Austria, The Konzerthaus Vienna, in France, The Auditorium Unesco, in Albania The Palace of Congress of Tirana and also in Monte Carlo, Switzerland and Canada.
Guest at several International Festivals: Moscow Autumn, Settimane Musicali of Lugano, Marta Argerich Project, Little Venice Music Festival, London, Festival Guido Cantelli and has recorded for Chandos Records UK, Melodia, Moscow, The USSR Radio and Universal, Italy.
Has recorded CDs for Melodia, Moscow, Chandos, UK, Decam, Universal, Milan, Italy containing music written by Russian Composers K. Davydov, S. Rachmaninov and V. Kikta', Arabic Composer A. El Masri and Italian Composers A. Bandel and R. Cacciapaglia among others.
Since 1994 became First Cellist in The United Europe Chamber Orchestra and The Guido Cantelli Orchestra of Milan. From 2008 has also been playing in the Arena di Verona Festival Orchestra. Also plays regularly in the Orchestra Filarmonica della Scala (R. Muti, D. Barenboim, Pretre, G. Dudamel), The Mahler Chamber Orchestra (Claudio Abbado, Daniel Harding), The Orchestra of Teatro Regio, Turin (G. Noseda), The Orchestra Sinfonica Toscanini (L. Maazel, Z, Mehta), and The Orchestra of The Arena di Verona (D. Oren, F. Mastrangelo, Battistoni).
As First Cellist plays with Orchestras in Milan: Giuseppe Verdi, Milano Classica, I Cameristi Scaligeri and I Pomeriggi Musicali. In Parma: A. Toscanini, The Orchestra of Teatro Regio and also with The Orchestra Filarmonica Italiana.
As Soloist has performed with the Kremlin Orchestra, Moscow Symphony Orchestra, Saratov Philarmony, Krasnoyarsk Philarmony Orchestra, Caucas Symphony, I Musici de Montreal, Canada, Orchestra Sinfonica di Bari, United Europe Chamber Orchestra, Orchestra Guido Cantelli, Tirana Opera House Orchestra, Albania, Orchestra Milano Classica and The Orchestra Arte Viva, Milan.
Regularly invited to participate in the Jury of International Competitions such as La Palma d'Oro, Finale Ligure, Rovere d'Oro, Imperia, Viotti-Valsesia, Varallo, COOP Premia La Musica and Piano Lovers, Milan.
